Eric Wycoff

Eric Wycoff was born in Galveston, Texas.  During his early teens he moved to Southern California with his parents and older brother.  He attended James Monroe High School where he excelled as a student athlete.  He later earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was a varsity letterman.  After his college education, he signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eric developed an interest in film at a very young age—film spoke to his inquisitive mind, sense of wonder, and adventure.  After his athletic career, Eric’s professional film career began as a production assistant.  This was just the beginning.  He quickly became interested in learning the trade and found himself working in both the lighting and camera departments.  These experiences provided him with a great deal of versatility.  What began as a curious diversion, from sports to film, then became his passion and career cinematography; an art form and skill he continues to master on a daily basis.

Eric first earned admission to Local 728 where he worked on over 30 feature films including Nixon (Director of Photography, Robert Richardson), A Time to Kill (Director of Photography, Peter Menzies Jr.), The River Wild and Traffic (Director of Photography, Steven Soderbergh).  Later, he joined Local 600 International Guild of Cinematographers; he was the 2nd Unit Director of Photography on John Singleton’s feature film Abduction and the Cinematographer for the Emmy nominated ESPN film, The Announcement. Recently, he completed photography on 24 episodes of season 1 of Tru TV’s comedy series Laff Track Laff Mobb.  Over the years, Eric has shot ad campaigns and promos for various clients including the NBA, Ford Motors, McDonald’s, Cheerios, Vh-1, and MTV.  In addition, Eric has photographed over 100 music videos.  He has extensive experience shooting in a wide range of formats from film to digital.

While his work in cinematography has taken him all over the world, Eric always enjoys coming home to his family in Los Angeles.
